![]() ![]() What do West Virginia restrictions on carrying knives look like? have certain restrictions on carrying knives, some of which concern the length of the blade, or where and how they can be carried. Knife Rights efforts have resulted in 40 bills enacted repealing knife bans in 26 states and over 150 cities and towns since 2010.1 dead, at least 13 hospitalized after explosion at Ohio factory: firefighters Knife Rights is America’s grassroots knife owners’ organization leading the fight to Rewrite Knife Law in America™ and forging a Sharper Future for all Americans™. Repeals have since been enacted in Alaska, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and now, Pennsylvania. Knife Rights has led the effort to repeal switchblade bans or restrictions in 20 states, starting with New Hampshire in 2010. We are proud of the collaborative process by which this issue was discussed, supported and eventually passed and signed into law. I am especially appreciative of Governor Wolf signing this bipartisan bill to advance freedom and criminal justice reform in Pennsylvania.” We worked diligently with our friends in the House and Senate to get HB 1929 bipartisan support resulting in votes of 202-1 in the House and 50-0 in the Senate. Other than the repeal of the ban on switchblades, no other changes in PA knife laws are enacted. Also, concealed carry of an automatic knife “…with the intent therewith unlawfully and maliciously to do injury to any other person…” remains illegal in Pennsylvania. We still have work to do in Pennsylvania without knife law preemption, cities and towns can still prohibit automatic (and other) knives, and many do. Until then possession of automatic knives (except as a curio) remains illegal in Pennsylvania. The repeal is effective on January 2, 2023. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf today signed House Bill 1929, repealing Pennsylvania’s ban on automatic knives! ![]()
